With four LLM degree programs in the field of environmental and energy law, GW Law students can delve in-depth into the field. Students can enrich their skills by becoming members of GW's Journal of Energy and Environmental Law or the research team for the Sustainable Energy Initiative, or by becoming faculty research assistants. GW's location in the heart of DC gives students year-round access to externships at the most influential government and nonprofit environmental organizations in the world.

The program's faculty includes the former director of the Global Environment and Trade Study at Yale University, a former director of environmental policy for the Minnesota Attorney General's Office, as well as internationally recognized experts on environmental, natural resources, and administrative law. Our adjunct faculty includes senior government officials and practice leaders from private law firms.

Our graduates become part of one of the largest networks of environmental and energy law alumni in the world. More than 2,000 GW Law graduates have entered environmental or energy careers with all of the major federal environmental and energy agencies, the Presidential Management Fellowship program, the judiciary, national and regional nonprofit organizations, some of the country’s most well-known companies, state government, and private law firms.
