As the only program of its kind in the United States and an industry leader for more than 55 years, the Government Procurement Law Program at GW continues to set the standard for excellence in the field. Students study with faculty members who bring to the classroom years of practical experience in the federal government and the private sector. The program’s adjunct faculty members are prominent legal professionals from organizations including the U.S. Department of Defense and the Civilian Board of Contract Appeals. Students interact regularly with guest lecturers from law firms, federal agencies, and international organizations such as the World Bank and the World Trade Organization. Students may pursue one of two-degree programs in the field: Government Procurement Law or Government Procurement & Environmental Law.
Our students may gain hands-on experience and invaluable networking opportunities through annual writing competitions and prizes, publishing in GW’s Public Contract Law Journal, and competing in the prestigious Dentons “Gibert A. Cuneo” Government Contracts Moot Court, during which participants argue before sitting judges from the Boards of Contract Appeals and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims.
Many graduates of the Government Procurement Law LLM Program hold prominent positions in government agencies, the Judge Advocate General’s Corps, law firms, and corporations. Alumni of the program form a network that includes many of the leaders of the government procurement bar.
