Litigation & Dispute Resolution

  • Individualized instruction and hands-on practice
  • Experienced faculty members who are leading practitioners
  • Comprehensive instruction in professional skills and values
  • Geared to accommodate the working professional’s schedule

GW Law’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution Program offers comprehensive, individualized instruction to convey the full spectrum of trial advocacy and dispute resolution skills needed by successful lawyers. The program features small class sizes to maximize student-teacher interaction and ensure that each student receives individual attention. In addition, many classes meet in the evening to accommodate the schedules of working professionals.

The program is led by leaders who are respected nationwide by fellow academics and by practicing lawyers and judges. The faculty includes federal and DC judges, former US Department of Justice lawyers, and many private-practice lawyers.

The curriculum ensures that students gain substantive experience in interviewing clients; drafting, preparing, and filing pleadings and motions; investigating facts; appearing before government agencies; mediating; arbitrating; and conducting trials before judges and juries. In addition, students may take advantage of the law school’s broad curriculum by using elective credits to increase knowledge in an area of law such as environmental, intellectual property, health, or government procurement law.
